The original bibliography for Maya Cosmogenesis 2012 (prototype version, 1997).
By John Major Jenkins.

back to http://Alignment2012.com

Ninety-five percent of the following sources constitute the latest conclusions of academic scholars, based upon the methodologies of anthropological and archaeological science. These sources span the interdisciplinary spectrum necessary for understanding Maya cosmology in its full complexity, embracing the fields of mythology, calendrics, astronomy, epigraphy, linguistics, ethnography, ethnohistory, ethnobotany, archaeology, religion, iconography, and archaeoastronomy. My book Maya Cosmogenesis 2012 offers new interpretations based upon my study of these sources. Reviewers, scholars, and critics should have a grasp of the insights and ideas put forth in these studies to understand how my own conclusions, though "progressive" by conventional standards, are nevertheless the common-sense extensions of current academic scholarship. This is not to say that any scholars have already proposed my integrative synthesis to explain the 2012 date, or anything even close to it. In fact, few scholars have rallied together the same amount of evidence and documentation for Masters and PhD theses I have read, nor for new theories that are now considered to be accurate. And so, scan the sources my friends; this is the material that my reconstruction work is based upon. This is the original bibliography for Maya Cosmogenesis 2012, finished in mid-1997, which was subsequently cut by 40% (for space reasons). John Major Jenkins, May 9, 1999.
